Description

Cistus is a genus of beautiful flowering plants originating in the Mediterranean regions of southern Europe and North Africa. In Europe, cistus is commonly used to combat bacteria, viruses and fungi.

Externally used to cleanse the skin and relieve eczema, acne and psoriasis. Tea made from cistus is also suitable for oral hygiene. You can use this tea as a mouthwash.

Interestingly, recent studies suggest that cistus extract targets viral envelope proteins, preventing primary binding of the virus to host cells. This reduces the virulence and reproductive capacity of the pathogen.

Therapeutic use:

Recent scientific research has confirmed the validity of knowledge of traditional folk medicine. Studies have shown that cistus leaf extracts have potent antibacterial, antiviral and biofilm properties. Cistus has shown antifungal activity against Candida albicans, Candida krusei, Candida glabrata and Aspergillus fumigatus.

Traditional folk medicine recommends drinking cistus tea daily (about 2 cups a day) for at least a week. The herb cistus is rich in bioflavonoids and polyphenols. Tea made from this herb relieves cold and flu symptoms about 2 days after drinking the first cup.
